KTM CTY, KTM RUN 2022 Sherpa Outdoors Pvt. Ltd 27 March,2022
KTM CTY has always been at the forefront when it comes to supporting the overall sport of the country. This year too, KTM CTY has launched the biggest 10K RUN on the streets of Kathmandu with the intention of hosting a race event on the last Saturday of January every year. But due to the COVID outbreak, the first-ever KTM RUN, which was all set to take place on the last Saturday of January, was postponed to February 26.
KTM RUN is for all, and the organizer, KTM CTY, has extended its doors to all participants from all over the world. It is one of the most beginner-friendly 10K runs in the world. The routes of KTM RUN start from Durbar Marg, head to Bhadrakali, Singhadurbar, Maitighar, New Baneshwor, and return to Maitighar, Thapathali, Tripureshwor, Sundhara, Newroad, Jamal, and conclude on Durbar Marg, which covers a distance of 10 KM. During the event, the organizer provided all the necessary materials, including t-shirts, gaiters, water bottles, KTM RUN stickers, and medical assistance to all the participants.
The KTM CTY KTM RUN 2022 was one of its kind, where we got a chance to see participation from every generation, from children to legendary marathon runners like Baikuntha Manadhar and Jit Bahadur KC. It drew over 1000 participants to run through the bustling city of the historic capital. In addition, the presence of hundreds of spectators cheering on their favorite runners as they rushed to the finish line made the atmosphere enthusiastic. Among hundreds of participants, we have got our first-ever KTM CTY KTM RUN winners, Kenyan sprinter Simon Kiplagate, and APF Club's Pushpa Bhandar in the men's and women's categories, with a track record of 30 minutes 55.58 seconds and 36 minutes 20.20 seconds, respectively. Each of them won a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh, as well as grand trophies for both the men's and women's categories.
The successful completion of the inaugural edition of the KTM CTY KTM RUN gave rise to the biggest 10K RUN in Nepal's history on the streets of the ancient capital. And this has motivated us to host an event like this in the coming years as well, to engage people in athletic activities. It was started with the aim of promoting the running culture among people in Nepal, and we believe that we have set the trends to some extent, but there is still more to be done.
In a nutshell, KTM RUN was a fun run at the heart of Kathmandu, and what we learned from the event is that the run is all about consistency, which led us to finish the run we started. Similarly, it is related to our lives as well. If we are consistent and devoted to our work, we will undoubtedly reach our goal sooner or later. Finally, we'd like to congratulate all of the winners and participants of the KTM CTY KTM RUN 2022 and express our sincere gratitude to everyone who contributed to the event's success. We apologize for any errors made throughout the event, and we promise to learn from them in order to make the next season even better and bigger. Till then, get yourself prepared for the biggest 10K run on the streets of Kathmandu. We can't wait to cheer for you at the finish line of the KTM CTY KTM RUN 2023.
